ABOUT REBEKAH
A twelve-year veteran of the Michigan Legislature, Rebekah Warren is a candidate for State Representative in Michigan’s 55th District. During her previous two terms in the Michigan House and as the sitting Senator for Michigan’s 18th District, Rebekah has a strong track record of creating bipartisan change without ever compromising her progressive values.

Routinely recognized as one of the most liberal members of the Michigan Legislature, Rebekah has been repeatedly acknowledged for her continuous fight for well-funded, quality education, universal healthcare, sustained natural resources and protected individual freedoms.
Without ever compromising these values, she has been one of the most productive members of the Legislature in terms of number of bills signed into law.

Protecting the health of our Great Lakes by shepherding the legislation that established the Great Lakes Compact and championing the bills that created the Aquatic Invasive Species Advisory Council.

Sponsoring the Breastfeeding Anti-discrimination Act, which safeguards the right of mothers to nurse their babies in any place that they are otherwise legally allowed to be.

Negotiating with the majority in the Senate to ensure that Michigan’s Medicaid expansion improves the lives of our most vulnerable citizens.

Playing a key role in a bipartisan bill package to strengthen human trafficking laws in Michigan.

Refusing to vote for a single cut to education funding since first taking office in 2007.

Introducing bills that would expand the Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act to include sexual orientation and gender identity and expression so that no one is discriminated against because of who they are or whom they love.

Rebekah serves as the Democratic Vice Chair of the Senate Natural Resources Committee, Michigan Competitiveness Committee, Economic Development and International Investment Committee, Regulatory Reform Committee, and is also a member of the Finance Committee. As a longtime Ann Arbor resident and University of Michigan alum, Rebekah has represented the needs of the 55th District throughout her tenure in Michigan's Legislature.
